Hello!  My name is Shirley Brown and I am the general music teacher for grades K-5.

Philosophy of Music Education

Music education, an essential form of communication, fosters personal expression, critical thinking, listening skills and a life-long appreciation for music.

Purpose of Elementary Music Education

The purpose of elementary music education is to give students the gift of music literacy. Students will receive comprehensive training in:

  • Rhythm                                
  • Solfege
  • Sight-singing
  • Listening
  • Writing
  • Performing
  • Creating
  • Aural & visual memory perceptions
